For the Dark Souls II variant, see Rapier (Dark Souls II). For the Dark Souls III variant, see Rapier (Dark Souls III). The Rapier is a thrusting sword in Dark Souls. Sold by the Undead Male Merchant for 600 souls. Dropped uncommonly by rapier-wielding Balder Knights. The Rapier, like other thrusting swords, can attack from behind a shield, giving an advantage for defensive players, it's also ... Rapier is ridiculous. Just started a fresh character to pass an hour this morning and grabbed myself a rapier, at +4 it's already crushed the last giant, pursuer and dragonrider first try, including runs to the bosses. I'm not exactly great at DS2 but my god this thing's R1 feels so safe to punish enemies with, think I've had to down 2-3 chugs ... Normal 1 handed R1 counter = 250 Damage. Counter damage (250) * counter modifier (120 aka 1.2) = 300. Now, if Weapon 2 landed the counter with a Thrust Type attack and the user is wearing the Leo Ring add ANOTHER 12.5% on top (that's the power of the Old Leo Ring) 300 * 1.125 = 337. 37 damage may not seem like much, but the effect is greater ... Description. A build based around the idea that in DS2; unlike DS1/DS3, you arent prophesized, but are like every enemy you come up against. This is a 25%; parry focused build, which means it'll take a bit of practice to get down, however the rapier and dagger blend nicely, giving you a few more parry frames and great riposte damage, I havent been able to test it in PVP but my guess is it ...

What to use Ricards Rapier with ? I bought Ds2 a while ago and started playing as a beggar and after about 30 hours my build begins to take form. I am using a lightning infused Heide Knight Sword and a Great Lance which i plan to infuse with lightning. My stats are about 25 strength 25 Dex and 30 Faith and a few defensive stats. So Ricards has the best dex scaling but medium base dmg, while the Espada has great dex scaling as well and higher base dmg. I honestly don't know at which point the scaling of Ricards outclasses the Espada. I would advice Ricards anyway, because I don't like that the on handed Strong attack of the Espade is a parry.

Good day everyone! I'm brand new to Dark Souls 2. I've played my share of DS1, and tried different build like full strenght with big armor, or full agi with 2hand katana. I'm planning on buying DS2 this weekend and I would like to play something along the line of Riccard. In-Game Description. A standard thrusting sword. Thrusting swords are light swords with fine tips. that can be used while holding up a shield, and are effective for parrying. Use quick thrusts to damage hard-skinned foes. Also effective when fighting in narrow spaces. Availability. Sold by Blacksmith Lenigrast for 1,000 souls. Goblin drop - rare.

Power Wielding. New to Dark Souls 2 is the ability to wield and use two weapons in synchronization. What this does is allow you to attack with two weapons with the same attack style (strike/slash/stab, can be doubled such as slash/stab as a shortsword and a dagger) at the same time. To do this what you need to do is first equip the two weapons.

Depends on how much you value crowd control versus DPS. The Estoc has a heavy attack that's a shield piercing sweep. The Rapier is generally better on single targets and in tight spaces.I prefer to two hand the Rapier. Over time you do about 20% less damage in a power stance. The advantage over the power stance is that it makes it easier to get stunlocks in certain cases. General rules on infusions. Don't infuse your main unless you can cast a spell buff. Never infuse a weapon with S scaling.Espada Ropera is a straight upgrade from the Rapier and it's heavy "attack" is a decent parry, but it's very late-game. Edit: Also don't infuse then. Rapiers are really useful for parrying and stabbing while maintaining a 140 counter damage, whereas ricard's rapier has a special attack that rapidly hits opponents 7 times in quick succession, which can be useful for poison and bleed infusions.

Ricard's has much higher scaling (tied with two other weapons for the highest Dex scaling in the game) but much lower base damage. The tipping point where it starts outdamaging the normal Rapier is about 40 Dex. The other factor to think about is the strong attack. No, INT and FTH do not affect AGL. ATT and ADP increase it (Though ADP increases it more). You would do both. Infuse the rapier and then buff it with the spell (Only lasts for ~60 at a time. I'd save this for bosses) I generally used the rapier two handed and relied on dodging.
